An Ancient engineering Marvel that rivals the Egyptian Pyramids; El Castillo or the Castle pictured at left dominates the ruins. These ruins were once a religious center. Today the ruins are ranked as one of the most importent Mayan Sites in the World. In a strange occurance that happens every year on March 20th and September 21st the serpents tails at the top of the pyramid seem to join with the heads at the bottom, almost 37 yds. long. Redwood National Park

Redwood National Park has one of the most majestic view on the West coast of America. A view of the world’s tallest living things. These Redwoods can grow to be over 350 feet tall. For one of these tree to mature it takes almost 400 years, given the time many trees will live longer; up too 3,500 years. The Diameter of the largest trees are just over 22 feet. Besides the iconic trees this park also includes Fern Canyon: a steep canyon with walls entirely covered in ferns or observe the Park’s wildlife.  Travelers can use the park’s facilities which include roads, campgrounds, hiking trails, biking/horse back trails for free. (if you are going to camp out though you will need a reservation and a small fee is required.)Whatever you want to do Redwood Park most likely has it. Pompeii

Pompeii, one of the most famous cities “frozen in time” is a great place to visit to get a feel for how a Roman city worked. Before Mount Vesuvius erupted Pompeii was a thriving port town with a population of 20,000. In A.D. 79 Mount Vesuvius abruptly erupted killing almost 2,000 people in Pompeii alone. After the eruption Pompeii lay under Volcanic ash until the 18th century. In 1748 excavations began. Today Pompeii is still being excavated, but it is open to travelers all year. Admission Fee is €11.00 for a 1 day pass. If you are a EU citizen under 18 or over 65; then congratulations you can in get in free. Located near Naples, Italy, Pompeii is a quick drive from the city. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

One of America’s most famous lighthouses, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has successfully guided ships safely through the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” for decades. The Lighthouse is the tallest one in America at 193 feet 2 inches. In 1999 the Lighthouse was moved farther inland because it’s beach had eroded  over 1500 feet in the last century. The Lighthouse is open to visitors from late April to Mid-October and is situated in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. There is a small visitors fee ($7.00-Adults, $3.50-Children) but it is well worth it for view at the top. For more information call (252)473-2111 or visit the National Park Service’s website.
